Karl Büttner,
Chief Technology Officer

Karl develops the vision for 170 Systems technologies and products and serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors. As a founder and former President and CEO, Karl leveraged his extensive experience with document management, imaging, workflow and relational database technologies to set 170 Systems' strategy, business, and technical direction.

Earlier, Karl was at Oracle Corporation, leading major customer engagements to build and deploy mission-critical systems and applications. Previously, Karl conducted research in object-oriented programming and areas of Artificial Intelligence as a software engineer at Tektronix. Karl is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, has published numerous articles in industry and conference journals, and has guest-lectured at MIT. Karl holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science from MIT.
