Most recently, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ascential (NASDAQ: ASCL) until it was acquired by IBM in 2005. Prior to Ascential, Gyenes served as Chief Executive Officer of Informix Software where he led the sale of its database business to IBM and the transition from Informix to Ascential. Responsible for analysis of emerging technologies for process automation, and engineering methodologies, he drives development in multiple product areas. Rakesh is a founder and lead evangelist for 170 Systems. Responsible for competitive analysis and strategy, strategic analysis of market trends, and product evangelism, he is the principle contributor of content to marketing. Prior to 170, he was a product manager in the database marketing group at Oracle, where he managed programmatic and call level interfaces and module language compilers.
