Plains All American Pipeline L.P., one of the largest independent midstream crude oil companies in North America, handles an average of over three million barrels per day of crude oil through its extensive network in the United States and Canada. With over 12,000 invoices a month to process and field offices spread throughout the continent, Tina L. Val, vice president of accounting and chief accounting officer, knew the company’s accounts payable (A/P) processes would benefit from a centralized, automated solution. Verizon Wireless, which has annual revenues in excess of $22 billion and approximately 46,000 employees, was created in 2000 through the merger of three four companies.

Following the merger, Verizon Wireless decided to implement a new ERP system within its PeopleSoft environment in order to support its fast-growing business. "We needed to reengineer our business processes to streamline our operations and take advantage of economies of scale.
